การนำคำพูดของคนอื่นมาเล่าต่อ (คำพูดแบบอ้อม)

Reported Speech คืออะไร?

Reported Speech หรือ Indirect Speech คือ การนำคำพูดของคนอื่น (หรือตัวเราเองในอดีต) มาเล่าต่อโดย ไม่ใช้ คำพูดตรง ๆ และไม่ใช้เครื่องหมายคำพูด (“ ”)

แทนที่จะพูดซ้ำคำเดิมทุกคำ เราจะเปลี่ยนให้เหมาะกับบริบทของผู้เล่า เช่น เปลี่ยน Tense, Pronoun, คำบอกเวลา และคำบอกสถานที่

Direct: John said, “I am happy.”

Reported: John said that he was happy.

1. เมื่อไหร่ถึงไม่ต้องเปลี่ยน Tense

ถ้า Reporting Verb (คำนำ เช่น say, says, tell, tells) เป็น Present Tense หรือ Future Tense เราไม่ต้องเปลี่ยน Tense ในคำพูดที่นำมาเล่าได้

• Direct: She says, “I like ice cream.”
• Reported: She says (that) she likes ice cream.

แต่ถ้า Reporting Verb เป็น Past Tense (said, told) เราจะต้องเปลี่ยน Tense ถอยหลัง (Backshift) เป็นส่วนใหญ่

2. กฎการเปลี่ยน Tense (Backshift Rules)

Direct Speech	Reported Speech
Present Simple “I like coffee.”	Past Simple He said he liked coffee.
Present Continuous “I am studying.”	Past Continuous She said she was studying.
Present Perfect “I have eaten.”	Past Perfect He said he had eaten.
Past Simple “I went to school.”	Past Perfect She said she had gone to school.
Will	Would
Can	Could
Must	Had to

ข้อยกเว้น:

• Past Perfect: ไม่เปลี่ยน (เพราะถอยหลังกว่านี้ไม่ได้แล้ว)
• ความจริงทั่วไป (Universal Truth): เช่น “The earth revolves around the sun.” ไม่ต้องเปลี่ยน Tense

3. การเปลี่ยน Pronoun (สรรพนาม)

ต้องเปลี่ยนสรรพนามให้ตรงกับผู้เล่า:

• I → he / she
• You → I / he / she / they
• We → they | My → his / her | Our → their

4. การเปลี่ยนคำบอกเวลาและสถานที่

5. แบบประโยคคำสั่ง และ คำถาม

คำสั่ง (Commands)

ใช้โครงสร้าง: tell / ask + Object + to + Verb

• Direct: “Please help me,” he said.
• Reported: He asked me to help him.

คำถาม (Questions)

• Yes/No Question: ใช้ if หรือ whether (เช่น She asked if I was tired.)
• Wh- Question: ใช้คำถามเดิม แต่เรียงเป็นบอกเล่า (Subject + Verb) และไม่ต้องใส่เครื่องหมายคำถาม (?)

แบบฝึกหัดตัวอย่าง

ลองเปลี่ยนประโยคเหล่านี้เป็น Reported Speech:

1. “I am going to Bangkok next week,” she said.
2. “Do you like Thai food?” he asked me.
3. “Don’t touch my phone!” my brother said.
4. “The meeting starts at 9 a.m.,” the teacher told us.
