TECHNIC AUTO CAR: การใช้ too

เมื่อเราใช้ tooในรูปแบบ adverb จะมีความหมายดังนี้
ไปตอนนี้ มันสายมากแล้ว

การใช้ Too ในความหมายต่าง ๆ
คำภาษาไทย	คำภาษาอังกฤษ / คำที่มีความหมายเหมือนกัน
เกินไป	too
ด้วย	too, also, likewise, wherewith
ก็	then, too, subsequently
อีก	more, too, yet
เหลือเกิน	exceedingly, too
เหมือนกัน	ditto, likewise, too, alike, also
ด้วยซ้ำ	additionally, as well, in addition, too, also

นิยมใช้ อยู่ 3 แบบ ซึ่งจะมีความหมายดังนี้
♥ 1. Too แปลว่า มากเกินไป ในระดับ หรือปริมาณที่สูงกว่า เกินกว่าที่ควรจะเป็น ซึ่งจะเป็นความหมายในเชิงลบ
♥ 2. ...มากเกินไป /เกินกว่า...ที่จะ....
♥ 3. การใช้ too วางท้ายประโยค มีความหมายแปลว่า เช่นเดียวกัน / อีกด้วย
หมายเหตุ Too much = มากเกินไป (ใช้กับนามนับไม่ได้)

ตัวอย่างประโยคภาษาอังกฤษ
♥ 1. Too แปลว่า มากเกินไป ในระดับ หรือปริมาณที่สูงกว่า เกินกว่าที่ควรจะเป็น ซึ่งจะเป็นความหมายในเชิงลบ

-I’m too busy.
ฉันยุ่งเกินไป

- It’s too long.
มันยาวเกินไป

- That's too bad.
แย่จัง / เสียดายจัง

- It's too dangerous!
มันอันตรายเกินไป!

- You work too hard.
คุณทำงานหนักเกินไป

- You’re speaking too fast.
คุณกำลังพูดเร็วเกินไป

- You gave me too much.
คุณให้ฉันมากเกินไป

- This porridge is too hot!
โจ๊กนี้ร้อนเกินไป!

- This porridge is too cold!
โจ๊กนี้เย็นเกินไป!

- There's too much work.
มีงานมากเกินไป

- It happened a bit too soon.
มันเกิดขึ้นเร็วไปนิดนึง

- Well, I’m too busy for you.
ฉันยุ่งเกินไปสำหรับคุณ

- He drank too much alcohol.
เขาดื่มเหล้ามากเกิน

- Maybe by then it'll be too late.
บางทีตอนนั้นมันจะสายเกินไป

- What do you mean "too late"?

- You’re too good for me. I’m not good enough for you.

- He eats too much and doesn't exercise, which makes him fat.
เขากินมากเกินไป และไม่ออกกำลังกาย จึงทำให้เขาอ้วน

ประโยคคำถาม

- Did you eat too much?
คุณเคยกินมากเกินไปหรือเปล่า

- Do you think western food is too expensive?
คุณคิดว่าอาหารตะวันตกแพงเกินไปหรือเปล่า?

- Do you think too much time is spent watching TV?
คุณคิดว่าใช้เวลามากเกินไปในการดูทีวีหรือเปล่า

- Do you think children watch too much TV these days?
คุณคิดว่าเด็ก ๆ ทุกวันนี้ กำลังดูทีวีมากเกินไปหรือเปล่า

- Do you think there is too much poverty in Thailand?
คุณคิดว่ามีความยากจนมากเกินไป ในเมืองไทยหรือไม่?

- Do you think that 70 years old was too old to be president?
คุณคิดว่า 70 ปีแก่เกินไปที่จะเป็นประธานาธิบดีหรือไม่?

ประโยคปฏิเสธ

- it's not too expensive.
มันไม่แพงเกินไป

- Don't use too much water.
อย่า่ใช้น้ำมากเกินไป

- Do not eat too much cake.
อย่ากินเค้กมากเกินไป

- Don’t take life too seriously.
อย่าจริงจังกับชีวิตมากไป

- Don’t get too serious about it.
อย่าไปจริงจังกับมันมากนัก

- I’m not too fussy.
ฉันไม่จุกจิกเกินไป / ฉันไม่ใช่คนเรื่องมาก

Do you think advertising is too expensive?
คุณคิดว่าค่าโฆษณา มีราคาแพงเกินไปหรือไม่?

♥ 2. ...มากเกินไป /เกินกว่า...ที่จะ....
- too + คำคุณศัพท์, คำกริยาวิเศษณ์ + to + V1

- It’s too far to walk.
มันไกลเกินไปที่จะเดิน

- I am too tired to do eat.
ฉันเหนื่อยเกินกว่าที่จะกิน

- I am too tired to do run.
ฉันเหนื่อยเกินกว่าที่จะวิ่ง

- I am too tired to do walk.
ฉันเหนื่อยเกินกว่าที่จะเดิน

- I'll probably be too tired to do it.
ฉันคงจะเหนื่อยเกินไปที่จะทำ

- It's never too late to say sorry.
ไม่มีวันที่สายเกินไปที่จะบอกขอโทษ

- I'm too short to play basketball.
ฉันเตี้ยเกินกว่าที่จะเล่นบาสเก็ตบอล

- He was too scared to sleep. He turned on all his lights.

- Our apartment is too small. There's not enough room to raise a family.

far too young = เด็กเกินกว่า
- Your son is far too young to live on her own.
เขายังเด็กเกินกว่าที่จะดำรงชีวิตอยู่ได้ด้วยตนเอง

- He is far too young. Your son needs a governess. I'm not a governess, I am a teacher.
เขายังเด็กเกินไป ลูกคุณต้องการ พี่เลี้ยงเด็ก ฉันไม่ใช่พี่เลี้ยงเด็ก ฉันเป็นครู

♥ 3. การใช้ too วางท้ายประโยค มีความหมายแปลว่า เช่นเดียวกัน / อีกด้วย

- Me, too.
ฉันด้วย

- I think so too.
ฉันคิดอย่างนั้นเช่นกัน

- I am going to the market, too.
ฉันจะไปตลาดด้วย

- He likes the music. I like it, too.
เขาชอบดนตรี ฉันชอบมันเหมือนกัน

- He said he would win and he did, too.
เขากล่าวว่าเขาจะชนะและเขาก็เช่นกัน

- I like you. Do you like me too?

- The professors can make mistakes, too.
