TECHNIC AUTO CAR: การใช้ ago-last

ago = ที่ผ่านมา / ล่วงมาแล้ว ( Adverb)
last = ที่แล้ว / สุดท้าย ( Adverb, Adjective, Noun, Verb )

- long ago/a long time ago = นานมาแล้ว / นานแล้ว
- the day before yesterday = two days ago = เมื่อวานซืน /เมื่อ 2 วันที่่่แล้ว

- last time = ครั้งที่แล้ว
- last year = ปีที่แล้ว / ปีสุดท้าย
- last month = เดือนที่แล้ว / เดือนสุดท้าย
- last week = สัปดาห์ที่แล้ว / สัปดาห์สุดท้าย

- That was a few years ago.
นั่นคือไม่กี่ปีที่ผ่านมา

- How long ago did he leave?
เขาออกเดินทางไปนานแค่ไหน

- We moved house two years ago.
เราย้ายบ้านมาสองปีแล้ว

- Long ago, men lived in caves.
เมื่อก่อนนี้นานมาแล้ว มนุษย์อาศัยอยู่ในถ้ำ

- We made the booking three months ago.
เราทำการจองไว้แล้ว เมื่อสามเดือนก่อน

- We met a month ago yesterday.
[= we met one month and one day ago]
เราพบกันครบ 1 เดือนเมื่อวานนี้
[= เราพบกันเป็นเวลา 1 เดือน กับอีก 1 วัน (ในวันนี้)]

- Your mother called about an hour ago.
แม่ของเธอโทรหาประมาณหนึ่งชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

- The dinosaurs died out 65 million years ago.
ไดโนเสาร์ตายหมดสิ้นเมื่อ 65 ล้านปีก่อนหน้านี้

- Actually, it should have been successful long ago.
ความจริงมันควรจะสำเร็จไปนานแล้ว

- It all happened so long ago that it's just a blur to me now.
มันเกิดขึ้นมานานแล้ว ตอนนี้มันเบลอ ๆ แล้วล่ะ

Verb to be + last
(last = adjective)
- John was last to arrive.
จอห์นเป็นคนสุดท้ายที่มาถึง

- He was last in the race.
เขาเป็นคนสุดท้ายในการแข่งขัน

Noun + last
(last = adjective)
- He caught the last bus home.
เขาขึ้นรถคันสุดท้ายกลับบ้าน

- Our last house was much smaller than this.
บ้านหลังสุดท้ายของเรามีขนาดเล็กกว่านี้

- This old washing machine is on its last legs.
เครื่องซักผ้าเก่านี้อยู่ในช่วงสุดท้ายของอายุการใช้งาน (last leg=เก่าแก่, ไกล้พัง)
